She did not make it to the starring role at first but approximately four years, in 1988, the movie Tezaab launched her to stardom as she was chosen to portray the female lead role and the rest was history.
Not only that Madhuri made it big locally, her films had penetrated other countries and her name rang like chime as she reaped international film awards. Her performance was an applauded one and that this movie caught the world and lead to it being featured in the Cannes Film Festival of the same year.
"My all-time favourite Madhuri-movies are Raja, Beta, Dil and everyone’s favourite- Hum Apke Hain Kaun. But if I have to name just one then it would have to be Saajan. The movies I didn’t like were Paapi Devta, Jamai Raja, Khilaaf, Aasoon Bane Angaare, Pratikaar and many more. She is a happy-go-lucky person, so roles that reflect that aspect of her personality suit her best. For instance, her roles in Devdas, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam and Hum Apke Hain Kaun really suited her."
